Interiors and Mural Paintings

My first ‘commissioned’ mural painting work was for my high schools production of Footloose, the musical, and I was asked to make [I think] 8 large paintings to decorate the alcoves in the auditorium. They were roughly 8 x 4 ft and a mix of main character portraits, and dancing couples, all spray painted black and white on colorful 80s backgrounds. My next proper commission was to paint a couple murals at Brandy Melville stores in Los Angeles, these were of some of the brands existing artwork. It was a new and exciting challenge to scale art accurately, plus the added fun of ladders and balancing acts! This year, I discovered the art of decorative painting and trompe l’oeil, and immediately took to covering my room in botanical paintings.
